Rita Stainton

I was born in New Jersey, lived in Maine for several years, and moved to San Francisco
in 1977. I live in an 1880 Victorian house with my dog and cats. I would cite the Maine
experience as my first exposure to serious crafting. Always interested in textiles and
needlework (my father was a lacemaker), I have been working in the area of needlepoint
for the last 4 years.
My pillows are made by hand with new and vintage materials, and all are stuffed with
feather/down inserts. The wool needlepoints, if vintage, are repaired, washed, blocked,
and sewn with or without borders to velvet, mohair or silk-blend backs. The fringe is
usually double and always luxurious.
These pillows are one-of-a-kind. They will add comfort and designer elegance to a
bedroom or living room, and will wear forever. They are truly heirlooms to be enjoyed in
your current décor and passed down to future generations.
