Point a La Ligne

Point a La Ligne: Candles for entertaining

Point a La Ligne started in 1968 in the middle of the wine area of Bordeaux (Southwest France). The idea was to bring together the beauty, warmth and magic of the flame, with all the versatility of fashion, seasons and good times. The candles take any shape, are meticulously carved, and shed the most beautiful light among an array of delicate colours. A Point a La Ligne candle creates a unique ambiance which is the starting point of all fantasies. Point a La Ligne candles are perfect for everyday pleasures, as well as festive plans. Point a La Ligne offers a whole design concept for enhancing the home by adding a special touch of splendour to small evenings, or surrounding yourself with beautiful and unique scents: above all it is about the art of living!

Point a La Ligne: Amazing Craftsmanship

From start to finish, the making of Point a La Ligne candle is a crafted handmade process. The process begins with the designers gathering "l'air du temps", what's in the air of fashion and design. They then make sketches and pass them on to the carver, who has been with the company since its creation. The carver creates a three dimensional mould. After countless adjustments, the style is approved for shape and colour. It is then reviewed and commented on by various people in and outside the company. Once it is deemed "perfect" by everyone involved, it becomes an official Point a La Ligne candle. Then, the meticulous task of creating moulds begins. The paraffin wax is poured into the mould, and the candle is left to cool and harden. The mould is then removed and the candle is hand painted, with up to 4 different brushes to give it a unique aspect of real life, antique patina, etc.

Point a La Ligne uses the best wax available. The wax is made out of oil and a mix of chemicals which all ensure high quality and slow burning. Point a La Ligne is very meticulous in the way the ingredients are mixed to ensure a complete balance. Therefore, the candles have a very high burning point which allows the candles to burn slowly, dripless and smokeless.

All Point a La Ligne candles are made with coloured wax and then painted over by hand to give them their unique look and appearance. As every piece is made by hand, you may be able to identify a detail here or there which varies from one candle to the next. This is the "human touch" element. As the details of carving on the candles are very fine and elaborate, and in order to keep all lines intact, Point a La Ligne does not drip their decorative candles in colour baths. They use a brush or spray, which achieves a better result. The less paint you use, the better the volume will show.
